Grand Harbour Creates a Complete Guest Experience

The Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton is located between the waterfront and the city centre; ideal for cruise passengers, business travellers or visitors to the city. This luxury, 4-star hotel is a Southampton landmark, complete with 173 rooms, spa, pool and health club, bar and a new Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill replacing its main restaurant.

While the hotel does have access to edit its own website, the platform is a little dated and not very user-friendly, and the hotel simply do not have the time or resources to keep it all up to date themselves.

To improve and better manage their guest experience, Widgety helped to build them a guest information microsite, complete with all the hotel information, everything there is to do in the city and a special page for cruise & stay packages, detailing the services available in their own cruise lounge as well as at the four cruise terminals.

The link to the microsite is in the main navigation of the website, making it easy for a guest or potential guest to find all the information they need. The microsite gets an average of 100 views per day, with the most popular pages being ‘About the Hotel’ and ‘Things to Do’.

The microsite has a number of pages with Widgets, including the hotel’s own events as well as those in Southampton and further afield. There are also Widgets for places to visit and a complete Visitor Information Centre with all the leaflets and brochures from attractions in the area.

Further to this, Grand Harbour decided to use our Brochure Rack Widgets to display their own menus, and also all of their spa information. This means that guests can download the menus and brochures to decide what they want for dinner after their spa treatment, all from the comfort of their room or even before they’ve arrived.

They also have a busy Facebook page, with almost 5,000 likes and over 36,000 online check-ins, meaning that they felt it beneficial to put the Brochure Racks and Visitor Information Centre on their Facebook page as well. The new Marco Pierre White restaurant has its own Brochure Rack, displaying the new menus and special offers in the specific brand colours, both separating it from the hotel as a new upmarket restaurant for the public but also tying it all together beautifully.

All the information about the hotel, spa and restaurant also feeds out to all the other Widgets featuring Southampton hotels or restaurants, such as on the Red Funnel website, increasing their promotion within the area.
