2018 in a Nutshell
2018 saw some big changes for us; the continued improvement of our Cruise Search, launching the new Smart Linking, and integrating more and more cruise lines to provide accurate and up to date pricing, availability and itineraries, including large resort ocean lines, boutique river lines and those once-in-a-lifetime expedition cruises.
We partnered with ATAS to provide tour operator brochures as well as cruise, and saw our Brochure Rack Widgets become our most popular product.
Over 2018 we also started getting much more involved in trade events, we met loads of you at CLIA conferences, ship visits and exhibitions, and you helped us understand what we could do to improve and how we could provide even better content.
So What’s Next?
As of January 2019, we now have 108 cruise lines*, 852 ships* and 80 tour operators in Widgety. There are hundreds of brochures available to download and around 30,000 cruises in our API. (*note that not all of these are available in our Cruise Search).
The information we have available on ships is getting a makeover, everything from before will remain but we’re also adding in some exciting new features, facilities and useful information. New content will include -
Detailed disabled facilities on a cabin-by-cabin basis
New & improved dining options
Types of electrical sockets available on board (UK, US, EU etc)
Cabin sizes, occupancy and type in a way you can search and filter
New filters for types of entertainment, spa facilities, children’s facilities, so you can find that perfect cruise more efficiently.
Cabin grades to tie in the information, photos and floor plans with the live pricing, availability and itineraries. Find your cruise at your perfect price, and see photos of the actual cabin or suite you’ll be staying in.
These changes will be appearing for our API customers first as we update each ship one by one, and later in the year will be available on the Cruise Search too. Search for cruises like never before and find exactly what your customer is looking for, with minimal hassle and no need for expert knowledge on every ship. Sell a wider range of cruise lines as you show people options they didn’t even know they had.
There’s a new Ports API in the works, where we’ll be able to provide you with stunning images and photographs from all destinations around the world. You’ll be able to use them to enhance your maps, itineraries and cruise pages, and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready.
We’re also working on more cruise line integrations so we can bring you more live pricing and availability, as well as updating old ships and adding in new ones. We have exciting new partnerships to tell you about, and you’ll see us popping up at more events in the industry.
We’ll be adding more case studies, interviews and videos to our websites, writing new how-to guides and improving our range of support articles.
As ever, we’re keen to hear your feedback so we can keep on improving, and we’ll keep you updated throughout the year as we launch new features.
